About Lois
"Writing music is rarely about waiting for a sudden bolt of inspiration. It is actually a job that requires SHOWING UP for yourself every day at the desk.
I earned a BA in Popular Music from the University of Westminster which taught me the mechanics of how songs function. My 12 years of recording and teaching have refined my ear for melody and narrative structure.
I have guided 216 students through the process of writing their first tracks from start to finish. You need to know how to edit your own lyrics when they lose their way.
Perspective and detail are the elements that keep listeners engaged for the duration of a track. I help you find those specific angles in your own storytelling. You can trust that our time together focuses on the technical craft of writing songs."

"The first session begins with the smell of old coffee and a notebook open to a blank page. We start by discussing the imagery in your lyrics before moving to melodic phrasing and structural editing. With 216 students under my belt, I know exactly where most beginners get stuck. My goal is to help you build a system for turning fragments into finished work.
We talk about POV and the technical side of storytelling in songs. If you want to refine your process, feel free to reach out."
