About Maxwel

Hello!

My name is Max Mignatti. I am a bright, friendly and energetic 23 year old woman who recently graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a masters in International Relations.

I was raised in Mallorca, Spain by American parents, so I was constantly surrounded by both languages growing up. I was constantly top of my class in both my English and Spanish courses throughout my educational career. I have volunteered at charities that specialize in teaching immigrants the local language to help facilitate their integration into society. Also as a babysitter, part of my duties included helping kids with their languages homework and teaching them the language they were unfamiliar with (i.e. English or Spanish).

I strive to create an engaging and fun learning experience, one that is catered toward each student‘s personal language goals and school requirements.

About the lesson

I am an energetic but patient person whose tutoring approach is hands-on and personally catered to each student. This approach depends on their willingness to learn and their personal linguistic goals. Notably, my sessions are mainly structured around the student’s Spanish class curriculum and homework - of which I expect my students to consistently keep me in the loop with. At its crux, my classes will focus on speaking, reading, writing, comprehension, grammar and vocabulary, as well as any other learning requirements from the student’s main Spanish class.

Typical length of a lesson is 45min to an 1hr - but this can be altered depending on each student.

As an American who grew up in Spain, I am a fluent English and Spanish speaker. I have tutored people in both languages. On an informal basis, I have repeatedly helped people with their language homework or taught them the language out of their own personal interest. Formally, I worked with a charity called JUNTOS throughout high school in the USA that was based around teaching Spanish-speaking immigrants English; and while in Spain as a babysitter I was tasked with teaching kids English and/or helping them with their English homework after school.

My lessons are mainly catered toward school-aged kids or people who are already taking a Spanish course and just need extra help navigating the course/language. While my specialty is Beginner (A1 & A2) and Independent (B1 & B2), I am also more than willing to teach a proficient-level Spanish speaker.
