About Gerald

My name is Gerald, and I am a University of Southern Maine Graduate and community organizer dedicated to helping people achieve their language goals in the Portland area. My work is rooted in the belief that language learning should be accessible, engaging, and empowering for everyone, regardless of background or starting level.

Over the years, I have supported learners of all ages and experience levels by creating welcoming spaces where curiosity is encouraged and mistakes are treated as a natural part of progress. This commitment led me to develop The Language Table, a community-focused initiative designed to bring people together through structured, interactive language practice. Through this work, I have guided learners in building confidence, improving fluency, and developing a practical understanding of how language works in real conversation.

My teaching approach prioritizes clarity, structure, and enjoyment. I place particular emphasis on verb conjugations and active participation, using games, puzzles, and guided discussion to help students stay engaged and retain what they learn. I strive to maintain a professional, supportive learning environment where students feel motivated, respected, and capable of reaching their goals.

Helping others grow through language is not just something I do—it is the core of my work in the Portland community, and I take that responsibility seriously.

About the lesson

At the heart of my Spanish lessons is a simple belief: learning is most effective when it’s fun. When students are enjoying themselves, they stay engaged longer, take more risks, and retain far more of what they learn. Creating an environment where learning feels playful, relaxed, and rewarding is my top priority.

Within that fun-first framework, I place a strong emphasis on verb conjugation, the core structure that allows students to truly use Spanish rather than repeat memorized phrases. Instead of drilling conjugations in isolation, I integrate them into games, puzzles, and interactive challenges that make grammar feel intuitive and alive.

By combining a strong grammatical foundation with engaging, interactive activities, my lessons keep students motivated, focused, and confident. Spanish becomes something to play with, not something to fear—turning learning into an experience students genuinely look forward to.
