About Sofia

I am a highly experienced teacher. Apart from being a native Spanish speaker I have a degree in Hispanic studies from Birkbeck College and I am a qualified language teacher. My focus is on students wanting to take GCSE and A-Level exams. I can also teach beginner classes to adults and young people. I have a friendly approach that motivates students to develop their reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, introducing cultural aspects of Spain and Latin America, so students immerse themselves in both the language and the culture. I work on a one-to-one basis with young people because I want to focus on their specific needs, I can work with groups of adults who want to learn in a more informal way and can introduce a lot of fun elements like cooking! Teaching experience: Language teaching to adults and young people – Spanish and English, GCSE Level, A-Level, Beginners and corporate groups. Over 20 years teaching cultural aspects of Spain and Latin America through food, cooking, music, films and book clubs. Have taught in London, Norwich, Cambridge, Madrid, and Mexico City. Spanish interpreting in the UK and I once had to interpret informally for the Princess of Wales. Initial assessment provided to gauge knowledge levels and to discuss timings and pricing structure.
