About Ivy

I’m a Spanish tutor with over 5 years of experience and a BA in Spanish, with a Concentration in Creative Writing and Translation. I specialize in helping expatriates and digital nomads adjust to life in Spanish-speaking countries. My lessons go beyond grammar—they focus on the real-world language you need every day. I’ve worked with learners settling into new cities, launching remote careers, or simply craving deeper connection with their surroundings. We cover essential topics like handling bureaucracy, navigating local customs, and communicating in community spaces. Whether you're opening a bank account, talking with your landlord, or shopping at a local market, I prepare you with the tools and phrases you'll actually use. I also support students in understanding cultural nuances, social etiquette, and how to build local relationships. Each lesson is flexible and personalized, shaped by your goals and lifestyle. I adapt materials to suit both structured learners and spontaneous adventurers. My approach is supportive, practical, and built to reduce culture shock. You’ll learn not just how to speak Spanish—but how to live it, confidently and comfortably. Let’s thrive in your new Spanish-speaking home, one conversation at a time.

About the lesson

My Spanish teaching style is warm, interactive, and rooted in storytelling. I create lessons that bring the language to life through music, dance, and traditional celebrations. Students explore festival vocabulary, cultural expressions, and the deeper meaning behind customs and rituals. We analyze song lyrics, study rhythm and meter in language, and connect sounds to spoken flow. I use engaging audio clips, cultural videos, and lively discussions to make learning dynamic and personal. Each session is designed to spark curiosity and joy. I work especially well with Conversationalists and Immigrants/Newcomers, helping them speak with ease and connect with culture. Lessons are paced to support confidence while encouraging bold expression. Whether you’re learning for social connection or cultural pride, I guide you with care and creativity. You’ll build fluency through fun, and understanding through celebration. Together, we’ll make Spanish a vibrant part of your world.
