About Alex

Hello My name is Alex and I am an experienced tutor currently studying for my Spanish BA.

I have been tutoring in various capacities, paid and voluntary for 5 years with my most recent experience being Teaching Assistant work at the University of Valencia in Spain.

I have tutored children as young as 9 up to over 65's and I have developed a very flexible approach to teaching that allows students of all ages to identify how they learn best and progress quickly using tools that work for them.

A typical hour long Spanish lesson would comprise:

5-10 minutes to recap the previous lesson and answer any queries that might arise while practicing between lessons.

10-15minutes to explain and provide examples of the concepts to be introduced in the lesson.

20-25minutes of practical activity (writing, listening or speaking practice)

10 minutes to review the practical activity, set practice activities to complete before the next lesson.

If a student needs more focus on a particular area the schedule can easily be adapted to their needs. In a longer session i.e. 2 hrs there is room to cover more subject matter or practice for exam questions and essays.

I have loved languages since I was introduced to Spanish at 11 and I hope I can help you to enjoy learning Spanish as much as i do. I have spent my Erasmus year at the University of Valencia learning Spanish in the classroom and in day to day life and improving my teaching with TA work. I feel confident with my experience I can help you achieve your goals and gain a firm understanding of Spanish that will allow you to use your language skills confidently even under the stress of exam conditions.
