About Lucie
Bonjour, hi!
Lucie here. I’m a French political science (BA) and communications (MA) graduate from Sciences Po Paris. I’ve also studied francophone literature at McGill University, and now live in Montreal working as a strategist in advertising. Throughout my 5 years at university, I’ve loved teaching and tutoring French for students at all levels, for individual and small groups and can’t wait to do so again.

During our first lesson:
Tell me about you! Let’s take time to talk about your needs, goals and skill level. Each learner is unique, as is each learning pathway. Tell me what you like and I will build our sessions around your personal interests (art, cinema, comedy, podcasts, true crime, French cuisine… you name it).
I tailor lessons to each students’ needs, level and goals. I’m convinced we remember information better when the learning process is associated with emotions. Hence I love building sessions around topics my students genuinely like, so that learning is exciting and doesn’t feel like work.
I also believe that learning a new language goes hand in hand with practice. I will do my best to make you feel confident to speak as much French as you can during our time together.
What I can help you learn and improve:
• Fundamentals: we’ll explore the basics of French until you master the essential principles to navigate the language with ease (basic sentence structures, common and popular expressions, phonics and pronunciation, greetings…)
• Conversational French for every level (beginner, intermediate, advanced): we’ll converse on general and specific topics, based on what you are looking to learn
• Written and oral comprehension: we’ll read and listen to material together based on your interests (news, films, podcasts, books excerpts…) and use it as a starting point to explore and learn specific principles (grammar, vocabulary, phonics…)
• Writing: I’ll support with written assignments, translation, CVs, cover letters, etc.
• Grammar: although this part is tricky even for native French speakers, we’ll make it as fun and engaging as possible!
• Vocabulary: we’ll explore and learn about different fields you need or are interested in
• French and Quebec culture
