About Kristen
I believe learning should be tailored to the student's needs, be engaging, and supportive to help the student get the most out of each lesson. I have a passion for helping students build confidence, and my background in the educational setting has allowed me to develop the skills needed to enable students to achieve this. I design my lessons around the student, making them interactive and allowing for movement or sensory breaks as needed. Each lesson is tailored to suit the individual learning requirements of the student. I specialize in primary English, math, geography, and creative learning, particularly for homeschoolers. I also have experience working with students to support speech goals. I collaborate with the student and their family to set learning goals and provide regular updates on the student's progress toward these goals, with opportunities for goal reviews whenever required.

I have had many years of experience as a home tutor and also as a teacher's aide. I am also studying Special and Inclusive Education at university. I like to start each lesson with a quick ice breaker or warm-up activity, followed by working towards our learning goal, before ending the lesson with a reflection activity that is often in the form of a game. I like to make lessons as hands-on as possible, including the use of some sensory-based activities. My lessons are mostly based at primary school children and would be great for homeschoolers, due to my daytime availability.
