About Ashley
After graduating university, I decided to move abroad. I didn't speak the language, or know the culture, but I did have a job that would end up teaching me both. I worked as an ESL Teacher and Tutor in Spanish/Catalan speaking high schools for two years. I expected to be teaching, but I did expect to be taught. My students taught me so much, especially about learning a foreign language. Being able to watch them learn English while I myself was trying to learn Spanish taught me the invaluable lesson that confidence, consistency, and community together create the formula for success. That is - confidence in yourself, consistency in your learning, and leaning on your community for support when the first two are feeling hard. I'm here to help you with confidence, build consistency in your practice, and become a member of your learning community!

I like to apply what we are learning to modern-day situations so you can understand how to actually use specific skills. My favorite types of lessons include multiple parts, so we are never working on one thing for too long. I am inclined to more innovative types of lessons, involving creativity and imagination. However, if this isn't your speed, don't worry, I have worked with many different types of learners and tailored each lesson to their specific learning style.
