About Tim
An Alabama native who has lived in 9 US States and the Republic of Ireland, Dr. Timothy Rice is an experienced leadership expert, with extensive experience in varied areas. He holds a Doctor of Sports Management (DSM) and a Master of Sport Science (MSS) from the United States Sports Academy, and a BS in Physical Education from Mobile College. With over 35 years of leadership experience, Dr. Rice has served as a college and high school head coach in multiple sports, including basketball, golf, cross country, track, and soccer, both in the U.S. and Ireland. Many of his former athletes have gone on to teach and coach nationwide. He brings over 20 years of university teaching experience, including leading the Doctor of Psychology program and Sport & Performance Psychology specialization at the University of Arizona Global Campus. His former students now serve in sport leadership, coaching, and consulting roles across all levels. From 2015–2023, Dr. Rice was a technical consultant and committee chair with Basketball Ireland and continues consulting in Eastern Europe with Admirals Basketball Academy. His podcast, Holding the Ladder in Sport and Leadership, is regarded as a top sport leadership podcast globally. A lifelong athlete, he competes nationally and internationally in distance running and racewalking. He was married to the late Dr. Candy Rice for nearly 27 years until her untimely passing in January 2022.
