About Sophie

I originally come from a small village about two hours south of Berlin, where I grew up on a farm surrounded by nature and animals. Since then, life has taken me on quite an adventure. I moved to the United States and have lived in amazing cities like Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Los Angeles, and now Denver.

I absolutely love traveling and exploring different cultures. Last year, I spent time traveling across Asia, which was an unforgettable experience and made me appreciate how powerful language and communication can be in connecting people from around the world.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy practicing Tai Chi and other martial arts, cooking, crafting, and anything creative. I love meeting new people, hearing their stories, and bringing fun, curiosity, and positive energy into my lessons.

Because I’ve experienced both German and American culture so deeply, I enjoy helping students not only learn the language but also feel comfortable using it in real-life conversations and everyday situations.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Sophie, a native German speaker who has been living in the U.S. for the past 6 years, so I’m fully fluent in both German and English. I love helping students feel confident speaking German in real-life situations, whether you’re preparing for travel, practicing conversation skills, or studying for an exam.

My lessons are fun, interactive, and focused on real communication, no boring textbook-only classes here! I especially enjoy working with adults who want to improve their speaking confidence and have natural conversations in German. We’ll talk about everyday topics, culture, travel, and anything that helps you sound more fluent and comfortable.

I also work with kids and have 7 years of professional nanny experience, so I know how to make lessons engaging, playful, and personalized for younger learners too.

Whether you’re a complete beginner or already speaking some German, I create a relaxed and encouraging environment where learning feels enjoyable and practical. Let’s make German fun together — bis bald!
