About Skylar
I am a dedicated piano teacher with 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano. My teaching approach is centered on active musical involvement and meaningful learning. I encourage students to engage deeply with music rather than just follow instructions. Each lesson focuses on developing artistic intent and personal expression.
I believe in a holistic approach that combines technique, theory, history, and creativity. Students learn not only how to play but also how to understand and feel the music. I place strong emphasis on rhythm, improvisation, and stylistic awareness. This helps students become confident and versatile musicians.
My lessons are carefully personalized to match each student’s goals and learning style. I work with a wide range of learners from beginners to professional level musicians. I support steady growth while encouraging creative exploration. Students are guided to build both technical strength and musical confidence.

My teaching approach for piano focuses on building a strong musical foundation with clear and structured lessons. I guide students step by step while keeping sessions engaging and interactive. Each lesson combines piano technique, music theory, and ear training for complete musical development. I align my teaching with recognized curricula such as ABRSM, Rockschool, and A Levels. This helps students prepare confidently for exams and assessments.
I also include music history to give students a deeper understanding of styles and composers. Creative skills like improvisation and composition are an important part of my lessons. Students learn how to create their own music and develop their unique sound. I support learners who enjoy expressive playing by helping them explore rich harmonies, rhythm, and improvisation techniques. I also guide students interested in modern styles to improve chord progressions, accompaniment patterns, and stylistic playing.
