About Tamiya

I have over seven years of teaching experience, during which I have had the privilege of working with a diverse range of students, from young children to adults. My journey in dance education began after I obtained my certification in Dance Education from The University Of Trinidad & Tobago, where I specialized in ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, Jazz, Modern and Caribbean. This formal training has equipped me with a solid foundation in both technique and pedagogy.

My teaching methodology focuses on creating an inclusive and encouraging environment where students feel confident to express themselves. I believe in a holistic approach that combines technical precision with creativity and emotional expression. This means not only working on perfecting steps and routines but also fostering a deep appreciation for the art of dance.

Throughout my career, I have continually sought to expand my knowledge and skills by attending workshops and collaborating with other dance professionals. This ongoing education allows me to bring fresh and innovative ideas into my classes, ensuring that my students are always engaged and challenged.

In addition to my practical teaching experience, I have also completed courses in anatomy and kinesiology, which help me to teach dance in a way that is safe and mindful of each student's physical capabilities. I am committed to providing personalized attention and adapting my teaching strategies to meet the unique needs of each student, whether they are pursuing dance for recreational purposes or aspiring to a professional career.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy exploring new choreography, attending dance performances, and staying active through various fitness activities. I also love spending time with my family and friends, discovering new music, and traveling to experience different cultures and their dance traditions.
