About Angela

My interest in accessible teaching grew slowly, shaped largely through early classroom experience working alongside learners who needed lessons structured differently than most textbooks assumed. That experience taught me how much predictability and patience matter, especially for learners who process language uniquely. Formal training in bilingual education later gave me practical tools to support this kind of teaching more effectively. That combination still guides how carefully I plan every single lesson today.

Working with children alongside neurodivergent learners means staying genuinely observant, noticing small cues that indicate comfort or quiet frustration. I never assume one method fits every learner, adjusting pacing and materials based on what each individual actually needs. What I find most rewarding is watching a learner who once struggled with new material confidently retell an entire story unprompted. That quiet breakthrough often means more than any test score ever could.

I continue studying accessible teaching methods regularly, staying current with approaches that genuinely support diverse learning styles. This keeps my teaching thoughtful and rooted in real, practical classroom experience rather than assumption. Lessons often adjust closely around what helps a specific learner feel most comfortable and engaged. My hope remains simple, that every student leaves feeling genuinely capable, not just instructed.

Children and neurodivergent learners both thrive on predictable structure, so every session follows a familiar rhythm that stays consistent from week to week. Stories open most lessons, chosen deliberately for repetitive phrasing that reinforces vocabulary without feeling like drilling at all. Simple, high frequency words get introduced through these stories first, letting comprehension build naturally before formal grammar enters the picture. Visual aids and gentle repetition support this process throughout, giving learners multiple ways to absorb the same idea.

As familiarity grows, short retelling exercises let students reuse story vocabulary in their own simple sentences, reinforcing memory through active use. Neurodivergent learners in particular benefit from clear, predictable session structure, so I avoid sudden shifts in pacing or unexpected new material. Children respond well to gentle repetition too, often surprising themselves by recalling phrases from stories covered weeks earlier. I stay flexible with pacing across both groups, adjusting quickly whenever a concept needs more time to settle.

I remind parents often that comfort and consistency matter more than speed at this stage of learning. Rushing tends to create anxiety that actually slows progress rather than helping it along. Stories and topics tied to a child's genuine interests keep engagement steady throughout each session. My focus throughout remains patient, helping every learner build real confidence at a pace that truly suits them.
