• 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I have been teaching for more than 20 years. In 2002, I became Professor Assistant at Roma Tre University and I discovered my passion in teaching engineering and archtecture structural subjects.

• 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I teach structural subjects so I let my students understand how structures behave under loads. I think there is no subject that I love less.

• 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

  I met many structural engineering teachers during my carreer but I developed my own method.

• 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  A good tutor is supposed to have a great amount of empathy, in order to understand why the student is struggling with that specific subject.

• 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  When I started working as Professor Assistant, I was 20 years old, so my students where around my same age. The very first time I had to speak in front of the class (200 students), my microphone in my hand was trembling.

• 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  The highest difficulty in my teaching carreer is that many of my students don't have a strong mathematical backgroud.

• 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  Teaching is my life, but of course I have many passions. I am a singer, I play piano, I love to cook, to travel and meet peaple from all aver the world.

• 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

  I have my own teaching method, which is not widespread in Universities. All my students get passionate with structural behaviour even if at the beginning they don't like these subjects.
