About Sophie

As a 20-year-old in my third year of studying primary education at the University of Glasgow, my passion for working with kids has only grown stronger. From a young age, I've been drawn to helping children learn and thrive. Whether through volunteering, mentoring, or now as a tutor, I've always found joy in supporting their growth. Despite my youth, I'm dedicated to making a positive impact in their lives. My university studies provide me with valuable knowledge and skills to better serve my students. While some may question my age, I believe my enthusiasm and commitment speak volumes. I'm determined to create engaging learning experiences and empower children to reach their full potential.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring centers around a student-centered methodology, tailored to meet the individual needs and learning styles of each student. I utilise interactive activities, hands-on exercises, and personalised instruction to reinforce key concepts, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel empowered to ask questions, explore new ideas, and develop critical thinking skills. While the typical length of a lesson varies depending on factors such as age, attention span, and specific needs, I generally aim for sessions lasting between 60 minutes to cover material thoroughly while maintaining engagement and focus. As a student teacher currently pursuing my Primary Education degree, specialising in Mathematics, literacy and homework support, I bring a fresh perspective and enthusiasm for teaching to my tutoring sessions. Additionally, I have completed 200 hours of supervised teaching experience in primary school classrooms, honing my skills in delivering effective instruction and supporting student learning. My target audience includes primary school students in need of math and literacy support or homework assistance, spanning various skill levels and ages within the primary school range, typically ranging from 5 to 12 years old. Whether a student needs help mastering basic math concepts, improving reading comprehension skills, or completing homework assignments, I am dedicated to providing personalised guidance and support to help them succeed.
