About Michael
I'm an undergraduate student studying Politics and Economics at the LSE. I was educated at a state school, and always found the methods of teaching to be stale - rather than building skills or passion to learn a subject, the focus was always on memorising information and learning to pass tests, rather than on teaching the subject itself. Knowing this, I can bring a fresh style based on feedback and building a good working relationship with my students. I have experience tutoring from the age of 16, when I tutored for the 11+ at local primary schools, all the way through to my university years, where I've tutored for GCSE and A-Levels, having always received great responses from my students.
I received grade 9s in my GCSEs in English, as well as A*s in writing and comprehension based A-Levels and have written first-class academic essays whilst at LSE. I have a passion for reading both fiction and non-fiction, and this love for literature has served to give me great skills in English.

My approach is to tailor my lessons to my individual pupils. I like to have correspondence ahead of sessions to see what you need to be taught, and to make my sessions fit in with the pace of your schooling, or to help you refresh or revise on content you've previously studied. Being focused on methods rather than on memorisation has always helped me get the best results for my tutees, and has helped progress the skills of those I've taught, from primary to GCSE age. I believe flexibility is key, and that me being receptive to what you need is the best way to ensure attainment, as you know yourself, and what you find works for you.
For English, I can teach students in both creative and analytical writing, writing critical pieces and essays, as well as reading comprehension and evaluation. My position as a Politics student gives me a unique understanding of analytical writing and essay pieces, meaning not only can I teach these skills, but also proofread and give feedback on my students' existing writing, helping them to improve and develop.

Michael has tutored me in-person on several occasions. He explains concepts very clearly and asks follow-up questions to ensure that I’ve understood the topic in depth. He was very friendly and created a welcoming learning environment. Would highly recommend!
Michael was a great and supportive tutor whilst I was struggling with my Maths A-level. He gave me loads of helpful resources and got my low C to an A! He was always very flexible with his time and also knew how to set high standards! His lessons were very free-flowing and allowed higher focus in areas in which I was particularly struggling.
I was tutored by Mike in my Economics GCSE and my Politics A-Level, he speaks really clearly and in a way that I can understand, and always makes sure I have the chance to speak and can slow down when needed, making everything at my pace.
Michael tutored me for my Maths and Further Maths GCSEs as a high school student, helping me to gain confidence in areas I'd previously struggled with, including algebra and equations. With a predicted grade of a 5, I earned a 7.
