About Renei

I am a 17-year-old violinist who is studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School. I regularly perform on stage and have experienced many different methods of teaching since I was 2. I really empathise with those who love playing the instrument but don't have enough confidence or feel overwhelmed by information on the internet. I want to motivate and help beginners to achieve their own goals on the instrument and enjoy making music in whatever settings they want.

About the lesson

Students begin their violin journey with me in engaging ways to build up technique, musicality and confidence. Lessons last for 45 minutes at first for younger children for better concentration but normally 1 hour. The lesson ends with key takeaways for students to work on in between lessons, which will be documented on paper. Beginners are taught basic techniques and concepts such as open strings, scales, bow hold and posture, and these skills will be incorporated in pieces they play which in return builds up musicality as well. One can not only expect to improve their violin skills but also expand their knowledge on classical music and is perfect for people who want to learn more about different pieces but don't know where to start. I always recommend 1-2 works each lesson (instrumental, chamber, or orchestral works, even ballets or operas) for their own enjoyment depending on their existing knowledge and overall context, to elevate interest and love for the violin and classical music. Beginners of all ages are welcome.

Deadly! I couldn’t be happier with our child’s violin teacher. Renei is very patient and know exactly how to keep a young child engaged while still building strong fundamentals. The first time they met they immediately clicked and my child felt comfortable with her immediately. Our 6-year-old looks forward to every lesson and is proud to practice at home.
