About Síofra
I am a twenty-four-year-old woman who has recently graduated from my master's program in Belgium. I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember and since the age of sixteen it has been my dream to attain a PhD in comparative literature and become a professor. As well as academic writing, I spend my free time writing fiction and poetry. I have a few ideas for novels (which I haven't gotten around to just yet) and love to read screen and stage plays. I have always felt that the skills gained in reading and understanding literature are hugely important in life, and because I am so passionate about this fact I am equally enthusiastic to help teach them! I graduated with top marks in my undergraduate and postgraduate, and I am currently working with my thesis supervisor to have my work published. I look forward to collaborating with students to help them achieve the best results they can :)

My lessons are 60 minutes long and open to all level secondary students. My method is to build a depth of understanding of material into exam preparation. This involves working with course material and approaching it not only as a set of check marks on the road to an exam, but also as an opportunity to practice interpretive, creative and written skills which will both better their critical capacities and assist in an exam. My first lesson is free, and I use it to work with the student and identify their strengths and weaknesses, from which we can build a plan of focus which blends targeting points of improvement and perfecting areas of strength. In this way, we build confidence and aptitude by using and directing the students' pre-existing skills. I have five years tertiary academic experience with English studies, and two years career experience with writing, editing and proofing copy.
