About Sandra
My name is Sandra, and I am passionate about supporting learners from all backgrounds to thrive in their education and personal development. As someone who understands the challenges of learning English as a second language, and teaching people with undiagnosed dyslexia, I bring empathy, patience, and practical strategies to every lesson. With experience teaching both adults and children, I specialise in helping primary-level learners and individuals who speak English as an additional language. I create a calm, encouraging learning environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and grow in confidence. My background in education, health, and community support has given me a well-rounded approach to teaching that respects each learner’s unique journey. I am reliable, approachable, and fully committed to helping students achieve their full potential, not just academically, but in life.

I take a student-centred, empathetic approach to tutoring, especially when working with individuals for whom English is a second language or those at primary/foundation level. My sessions are designed to build confidence, language skills, and real-world communication through interactive and practical learning. I use a mix of phonics-based instruction, visual aids, repetition, role-play, and storytelling to support language development. For ESOL learners, I incorporate everyday vocabulary, cultural understanding, and conversational practice. For primary learners, I align content with UK national curriculum goals, using playful and structured activities to keep them engaged. Lessons typically last 45 to 60 minutes, depending on the age and attention span of the learner. I have experience teaching English to both children and adults from diverse backgrounds, and I bring strong community engagement and mentoring skills into my sessions. I also have firsthand understanding of learning difficulties such as dyslexia, which helps me tailor lessons to individual needs. These lessons are ideal for: Primary school pupils needing extra English support Adults and young people learning English as a second language (ESOL) Learners with additional support needs looking to build basic literacy and communication skills

Sandra supported my two daughters for a number of years. She is a very supportive and understanding tutor and, made the learning fun and exciting experience. My daughters always looked forward to her lessons which in my view spoke a lot about the person she is. I highly recommend her !!
I had the pleasure of working with Sandra as my English support tutor, and I genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From our very first session, she made me feel completely at ease with her relaxed and welcoming teaching style. It was clear that she genuinely cared about helping me improve, not just academically, but also in building my confidence.
What really stood out to me was how comfortable she made the learning environment. I never felt judged or pressured – just supported. She created a space where I felt safe to make mistakes and grow from them. Her positivity and calm approach helped me progress faster than I expected, and I actually started to enjoy the subject more than I thought I could.
I highly recommend Sandra to anyone looking for English support. Whether you’re struggling with the basics or just want to fine-tune your skills, she’ll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to beSandra is trustworthy and reliable. I have known Sandra for 6 years. She has been supporting pupils with English as their second language.
I highly recommend Sandra as a tutor. They taught me in the past, and I truly loved their teaching style—clear, patient, and engaging. I learned so much from them, and they made complex topics easy to understand. They have strong communication skills, deep subject knowledge, patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for teaching. Anyone would be lucky to learn from them!
