About Christy

I've loved design for as long as I can remember, so learning the skills to actually bring the designs to life was a game-changer.

I went to one of the foremost programs for interior design in Toronto, winning best in show both my 3rd and 4th year. As I entered the industry I completed large construction sets using AutoCAD for commercial and hospitality projects. In each step of my career, AutoCAD and Sketchup have been with me hand in hand. At this point, they are an essential part of my design process. They can help you visualize a space, create accurate base plans, and provide very detailed instructions to those who are planning on building what you create.

As a designer, I was often trying to learn these skills on my own. Although it built character, it took much longer than if I had a guide to help me through! One of my passions is mentoring up and coming designers, so I would love to share my knowledge and make it so AutoCAD and Sketchup could be an essential part of another designer's toolbox.

About the lesson

As a designer who's been working in interior architecture for many years, I have developed an extensive knowledge AutoCAD and Sketchup. I've used my skills to coordinate large drawing packages, photorealistic 3D views, and concept packages for clients throughout the world. As a designer with limited timelines, I've learned ways of working that result in maximum efficiency, helping you with coursework, work for clients, or helping you become faster in your own personal projects.

These lessons are meant for:
- High school students
- University Interior Design Students
- Young professionals just starting out in the industry
- Those looking to DIY their own designs

These lessons include:
- The basics of AutoCAD (lines, blocks, hatches, linetypes) to xrefs, space planning, furniture layouts, setting up construction sets, and more!
- The basics of Sketchup (groups, components, basic modelling) to more advanced skills (organic modelling, photorealistic rendering, etc)
- Combining these skills into cross platform tutorials, showing you how to take a CAD floor plan and translate it into a 3D space.
- We'll figure out where your skill level currently lies, and determine where we need to focus to ensure your skills are well-rounded.

During our session, we'll focus on one particular skill set. I'll demonstrate how the skill is done, and then I'll have you practice the skill several times until you feel comfortable completing the task onyour own. I'll provide several scenarios in which you can practice, so you can retain the information. Lastly, I'll give you small pieces of homework that you can practice on your own so you become efficient at these skills!
