About Steven
I have taught English (language and literature) at secondary schools and colleges for over 25 years, and I love passing on my expertise and love of reading and writing to others. I have a history degree, as well as one in English, and I've also taught sociology and RE / philosophy and ethics. I've run creative writing and debating clubs - publishing a book with the former and reaching a national semi final with the latter. My goal us to publish my own fictional novel in the next year or two - and to read it with my students!

Firstly, I will discuss with the client what they feel are their needs, strengths and weaknesses in the subject. Then, with my knowledge of the curriculum and of the client's preferred learning style, we would plan a bespoke programme of study together, to be delivered in a variety of ways to maximise retention of learning and to minimise boredom! My style of teaching is to provide entertaining and memorable resources, patient explanations, modelling, coaching and plenty of encouragement!
