About Madilyn
Teaching is not just my job, it is my passion. I have never once questioned what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Five years ago, my teaching career began fairly quickly. I was hired in the public school system as a long-term substitute, then moved to a reading tutor position and was eventually hired for a full time fifth grade position. I have taught all subject areas, but feel my strength is in reading.

When considering best practices for literacy instruction, the structures and routines of reading and writing workshop have always been central in my professional life. I use student-centered approaches that I learned and infused into all of my planned learning experiences. I pride myself on motivating even the most reluctant readers and writers by helping them find and pursue their passions.
