About Bruce
I tutored French in college, before and after I lived in Belgium. I realize that students learn differently, so I try to present not just grammar and language structure (those help immensely to simplify learning a language), but aspects of french language which interest the student (like travel, food, music, the arts, books, poetry, and other aspects of French life.
For example, a first year student can learn to read simple but moving poetry like Jacque Prevert's "Dejeuner du Matin."

It's not just about the language, it's about culture, friendship, and "joie de vivre." If you are a student, then of course grades will matter, and the student will have specific material she or he must master, but I like to make it fun, involving, speaking, writing, current events, music, history, and friendships.
