About Nicola

I'm a teacher who believes in teaching students how and where to look rather than telling them the answers. This makes students prepared for any exam. I love literature and media as both subjects are about creating and reading for meaning. English allows us to experience things we wouldn't and deals with universal truths. That's why I thrive in a classroom or with individual students and this passion resonates with them and impacts on outcomes.

About the lesson

Students make excellent progress and consistently meet their targets or above. Private students who I've tutored (for an average of only two terms in Yr 11) and who were typically at risk of failure or underachievement, all made rapid progress. They enjoyed lessons and ultimately had excellent outcomes. For example, one pupil who was not a natural English student went on to study A Level literature. I help students realise that they can with a positive mindset and guide them to develop skills necessary for lifelong love of English, which goes beyond passing the test or getting good grades.

Nicola was my English tutor during my gcse studies. Nicola provided me with consistent and challenging work to encourage the growth of my creative writing and literature skills. Furthermore, Nicola provided the healthy guidance necessary and the constructive criticism needed which allowed me to incorporate them into my own work later. In conclusion, Nicola is an amazing tutor with the skills and knowledge to push you further and the warmth and friendliness to support you.
