About Mya

I know how stressful and scary it can be learning a new language or improving your proficiency in one, so that's why I make sure to reassure my students that this is a judgement-free zone. You can't learn without making mistakes. I make sure all of my lessons are unique to the student. All of my students have been from Spanish speaking countries hoping to learn English as a second language and I speak Spanish myself, so if you are looking for someone to help you improve your English, not matter what age, I am here to help! Not only that, with my experience teaching younger children, I also have the ability to help tutor young English speaking kids improve their reading, writing, and speaking as well. When it comes to being a tutor/teacher/mentor, patience and communication are key which are two qualities I pride myself in having. Being in the role I am, I am pushing people towards success and helping them expand their knowledge so I want to make sure I give them a comforting learning environment and am thorough with the help I'm giving.

About the lesson

I have experience teaching people from the age of 5 years old to 60 years old. I love making my classes fun and unique for each student. I always make my first lesson conversational so I can get to know the student, gauge their English level, and figure out what areas of the language they need work on. I love to use songs for my reading and listening practices. For me, music is everything and when I was learning a second language, I love when we did music listening activities. So whether you have a child that needs a little help reading or you're an adult whose second language is English and wants to improve your speaking, I am here to help!
