TEFL-certified tutor with own language-learning experience (x3): Get English with tips on self-teaching and self-correction!

I had a specific goal – I had to study for CFA (exams for financial analysts). I know my major well enough, but my English level did not allow me to proceed with my career and further studies. Pavlo signed up for a difficult task. He dived into the exam materials with me and helped me with the vocabulary specific to finances. The lessons were obviously unusual and maybe not so much fun, but I appreciate the effort. Within half a year of classes, I achieved a better understanding of the exam preparation materials and could express myself freely and correctly. Pavlo agreed to take my 10-year-old kid as an exception because we were good acquaintances. We had tried different tutors. However, the methods had been pretty obsolete and not been bringing many results. It was difficult for the kid, and she could not catch up with the school program. She lost her confidence, and I started thinking too it was impossible for her. I started my lessons with Pavlo after a routine group course. Thus, my impression may be slightly exaggerated but I enjoyed having lessons in a more relaxed manner, having topics that popped up naturally, that I wanted and needed to go through, without the feeling of a school class full of obligations. I could move on much faster because Pavlo adapted to my learning pace, and I did not have to wait untill other students or even teachers were done with a topic. His style consists of giving different examples and his knowledge of other languages is extremely helpful for giving parallels and explaining not-so-obvious concepts. Pavlo has helped me to learn how to use different tenses in different cases. I met him, having A2 level, a good enough vocabulary, and no understanding of tenses (except for simple ones). After a couple of months, I understood, which tenses I should choose, but more importantly, I understood why I should use them.
