As a writer, translator and researcher based in England and France, I host extended collaborative seminars with French colleagues at my home in Norwich. Most have no more than a smattering of school-level English and are keen to improve their grasp of the language during their stay. I rely on Eric to provide individually tailored tuition, and his work has been exemplary.

Friendly, patient and able to adapt his approach for clients of various ages and backgrounds, he has proved a popular and effective teacher, particularly good at helping students overcome shyness and with a knack for engaging their interest through cultural context. I now know a number of people from southern France, for example, with a surprisingly strong interest in the fortunes of Doncaster Rovers.

Eric’s time with my French colleagues is inevitably limited, but their sessions with him have produced impressive results and return visitors invariably ask for follow-up sessions.
