About Jake
My main purpose of teaching is because I really enjoy these subjects. While some people find them boring I find them utterly fascinating. Who wouldn’t want to share something they love? My hope is that, even if you find some of these things difficult, if you can start to appreciate and enjoy these subjects for what they are, they might seem a little less daunting and a bit more engaging. I know it is difficult to understand something you don’t enjoy or are not confident in, so I hope you that my lessons would make you feel more confident in these subjects, and who knows, maybe even enjoy them a little bit.

I am a current University Student at Durham University studying theology. I have A-Levels in Latin, Classics and Theology, (A*AA) and I have 12 GCSEs, with ten Grade 9s (including in English, Latin, Ancient Greek, RE and French) and two Grade 8s. I have experience in tutoring Latin, Greek and Classics, and whilst studying for my A levels I also taught these three as an after school club at a local primary School. From my experience tutoring humanity-based subjects, I am well aware of the variety of challenges that different individuals face. I adopt a personal approach to my students and try to relate to them and see the challenge from their perspective. Then together with the student we will look for ways to approach this challenge. To overcome it, I have found the most reliable solution is repetition, not just in one instance, but over the course of lessons in order to gain confidence in these subjects. My lessons are typically 60 minutes long, and are for students studying English, Latin, Classics, Ancient Greek and RE at GCSE and Key Stage 3 level. I can also tutor Theology at A level. I also tutor any subject at Key Stages 1 and 2 (Primary School).
