About Terri

Hi, I’m Terri.

I started my career in hospitality and customer service, where I spent over 20 years working in people-facing roles. In that time, I developed strong communication skills, patience, and the ability to explain things clearly to people from all backgrounds.

More recently, I made a career change into cyber security. I completed a 16-week bootcamp, which gave me a solid foundation in key concepts and practical skills. After graduating, I was invited to work as an assistant tutor, supporting other learners as they worked through the same material. I stayed in this role for 1.5 years and really enjoyed helping people build confidence and understanding in a subject that can often feel overwhelming at first.

I’m not here to overcomplicate things or talk in technical jargon. I focus on helping people understand the basics in a clear, simple and supportive way.

I understand what it feels like to change careers later in life, start from scratch, and question whether you belong in a new field. My goal is to make that process feel less intimidating and more achievable.

About the lesson

My approach is relaxed, supportive and focused on helping you feel comfortable asking questions.

I don’t teach in a technical or overwhelming way. Instead, I explain things in plain English and adapt the session to where you are right now. A lot of people come to me feeling unsure or intimidated by this switch, so I focus on breaking things down simply and helping you build confidence.

Each session is more of a conversation than a formal lesson. I’ll ask about your situation, what’s confusing you, and what you’re hoping to achieve, and then guide you through it step by step.

Typical length of a lesson:
Sessions are usually 45–60 minutes.

My experience:
After completing a cyber security bootcamp, I was invited to work as an assistant tutor, where I supported students with their learning and helped explain concepts in a clear, approachable way. I did this for 1.5 years alongside my own transition into cyber.

I also bring over 20 years of experience in customer-facing roles, which means I’m patient, a good listener, and used to adapting to different people’s needs.

Who my sessions are for:
My sessions are best suited to adults considering a career change into tech or cyber security. Complete beginners with little or no technical background. Anyone feeling overwhelmed and wanting a clearer understanding of where to start.
