About Noah
I'm a bright, cheery, and enthusiastic young guy going into his last year of a History and Politics degree at the University of Oxford. I have been super-fortunate to have had some amazing teachers. I have also seen an awful lot of my pals and peers struggle through school being discouraged in a variety of ways.
At base, I love tutoring because bringing kids to the fact that they are capable, that they can and will enjoy their goals - with a bit of elbow grease - and most of all to their own intellectual creativity is a really special process to be involved in. School curricula make demands on the tutoring experience. I have no qualms about this and am determined to get on with the specific demands. But, I'm convinced that the sessions be fun, creative and rewarding spaces that kids look forward to - even if they don't to school.

Kids come to tutors because something (big or small) is missing from their current learning experience. From my experience, it has to do with a lack of attention to your specific aims, character, needs. I spend an awful lot of mental energy trying to gauge how best to cultivate a learning program/experience for each of the kids I tutor whilst also attending to the more generic objectives their school curricula comprise.
I love teaching ... I really mean that. It was something I fell in love with over the early stages of Covid. One reason I so prefer face-to-face tuition is that the sort of intellectual relationship it allows for is more specific and tailored. I do the job, ultimately, because it gives me real joy to see kids recognise their own capabilities- that they are not just 'stupid' or need some vague 'extra help.'
My lessons reflect this. I have usually started with a planning session laying out short, medium and long-term goals. Then, I always come with a substantial amount of preparation for that individual lesson as part of a larger program. I try to retain variety, optionality and flexibility within these. But, I'd hope that as we get to know each other it is a strategy that really makes the most out of each session, week and month.
