About Hannah

I am a bubbly and friendly individual who has a passion for learning languages! I currently study Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan at university and I truly believe that being able to communicate in more than one language opens up a multitude of opportunities for both employment and travel in the future.

Teaching is another one of my passions as I have taught gymnastics to children between the ages of 4-16 for 4 years and in August this year I will be moving to Spain for my year abroad in order to teach English to Spanish students.

I am keen to make every class I teach exciting and engaging by avoiding repetition of activities and making each lesson unique and tailored to each students specific needs. My lessons will involve reading activities about current affairs in the Spanish speaking world in order for students to build knowledge about what is occurring in the hispanic world. They will also involve speaking activities that will focus on a different topic every week such as a particular festival, type of music, or cuisine etc. in which students will go away and complete writing tasks about. These will then be marked before the next session in order to give feedback. I will also tailor grammar activities for each individual student in order to give them personalised support to improve their Spanish.

As I completed for my GCSEs in 2018, I am aware of the new style of examinations for languages meaning that I can support my students in ways such as practising speaking and writing exams to give them the best chance of achieving their desired grades in their exams.

About the lesson

45 minute one-to-one interactive lessons designed to improve written, spoken and reading skills in Spanish for GCSE level or lower level students.

The lessons will involve a variety of engaging activities that focus on grammar, writing techniques and pronunciation whilst gaining valuable knowledge of the rich culture of the Spanish Speaking world. This includes learning about customs and traditions in Spain and Latin America as well as key historic events that have occurred in the Hispanic world.

I have previous experience in running Spanish development clubs for GCSE level students as well as fulling a role as a peer mentor for first year university students to share my advise on exam revision techniques and the best way to prepare for a language exam.
