This is Tejas here !
I am a professional carnatic flutist having an experience of 26 years in this field and performing & teaching from 14 years now with students in India, US & the UK.
I am also an All India Radio artist at Bangalore AIR.
I am the disciple of renowned Flautist Bangalore S.A Shashidhar who hails from the Ramani school of playing.
I play & teach carnatic classical, fusion music, film hits and Sufi music as well !
I WANT TO SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE OF KNOWING & PLAYING THIS BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT.

About the lesson

This is a course for students interested to learn the instrument, flute, adhering to the Carnatic style of music.
* Students will be taught from how to hold the flute, lip placement on the flute, finger placement, blowing tips and how to sustain notes for a long time.
* Students pursuing this course will first learn the Carnatic basics starting from the swara system. They will then learn about the tala system or rhythmic cycles, practising the swaras in particular talas.
* Students will then start to learn on singing the swaras in particular ragas keeping in mind the talas.
*Students will be taught the different kinds of Varishas, first among them will be the sarale varisha meaning a simple combination of notes.
*Moving on they will practice the datu varisha, meaning the jumping of notes and the janti varisha, meaning, the practising of two notes in different accents.
* Further on, students will learn the alankara to learn about the structure of tala or rhythm.
* Students after undergoing practice will be taught short duration songs or geetam.
* Further moving ahead, students will be introduced to Varnams & keerthana playing with Alaapanas for various Ragas and swara Prastarams for the same at the intermediate & advanced level accordingly. *
Students can also express their interest to me if inclined to appear for the junior level, Government conducted examination in carnatic music. Depending on the student's interest and progress, shall train them on the syllabus that will enable them to appear for the junior level, Government conducted examination
