About HONAMI

Hi all Japanese learners! I am the founder HONAMI'S JAPANESE LESSON and a qualified Japanese language teacher, originally from Japan, and currently supporting students based in Australia and beyond.
I have been teaching Japanese since 2017, working with a wide range of students from children to adults.

Whatever your reasons, you are in the right place! My students come from all walks of life. I regularly help learners who are preparing for travel, studying abroad, applying for scholarships, or gearing up for the JLPT exams. I also fully support students who prefer a structured approach using textbooks like Minna no Nihongo or Genki.

Having supported many learners from diverse backgrounds, I deeply understand the unique challenges of mastering a new language. My goal is to create a supportive, relaxed, and flexible learning environment where you can learn at your own pace and always feel encouraged to keep progressing. Through our lessons, I hope to help you expand your opportunities in life and gain the confidence to pursue your dreams.

As part of expanding my global services, I am currently transitioning my business operations to be fully based in Japan starting June 2026. About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on helping students not only understand Japanese, but also use it with confidence. I place a strong emphasis on balancing grammar and conversation, so that students can explain ideas in their own words and apply what they have learned in real situations.＼How do I do lessons／ I have several picture cards of vocabulary. These include slides of grammar and some games for studying Japanese. I usually use these slides and depending on the knowledge of the student, I will gauge the level and make appropriate material for study. It depends on your goal, but I will help you brush up with adjectives (kawaii, oishii) first and then try to check your verb knowledge. Alternatively, if you would like to study Japanese for travel, I would focus on teaching phrases for each situation.

※At the moment, I’m teaching online only, so I hope online lessons could work for you🥹 Just in case it’s helpful to know, I also have a team member based in Adelaide. She’s an Australian teacher with JLPT N2+ level Japanese, so face-to-face lessons in the CBD may be possible if you're open to that.

If it's over 10 kilometers round trip from my area, add $10 for every 5 kilometers. (ex①: Round trip 10 km →One hour Lesson fee AU$60 + face to face fee AU$10 + Non trip fee = AU$ 70 ex②: Round trip 10.8km →One hour Lesson fee AU$60 + face to face fee AU$10 + trip fee AU$10 = AU$ 80 ex③ Round trip 15.8km →One hour Lesson fee AU$60 + face to face fee AU$10 + trip fee AU$20 = AU$ 90)
