About Miko
Hello! I am a Tourism and Hospitality Management educator with an academic background in Tourism Management and professional experience in travel agency operations. My journey in both the academe and the tourism industry has allowed me to develop a teaching approach that combines academic knowledge with practical, real-world perspectives.
As an educator, I am passionate about making learning meaningful, engaging, and accessible. I believe that education should go beyond memorizing concepts; it should help learners understand how knowledge can be applied in real situations. This is why I enjoy connecting lessons to industry practices, current issues, and everyday experiences.
My areas of interest include Tourism and Hospitality Management, travel and tourism operations, destination and cultural studies, research, academic writing, and presentations. I also enjoy helping students break down complex topics into simpler and more understandable ideas while encouraging them to think critically and develop confidence in their own abilities.
I consider myself an approachable and adaptable educator who understands that every student learns differently. Whether you need help understanding a challenging lesson, preparing for an examination, improving an academic requirement, or gaining a deeper understanding of the Tourism and Hospitality industry, I aim to provide a supportive learning experience that is clear, practical, and suited to your needs.
More than simply teaching a subject, my goal is to help learners become more confident, curious, and capable of applying what they learn beyond the classroom.

My approach as a tutor is centered on making learning meaningful, practical, engaging, and relevant to real-world situations. With my academic background in Tourism Management, professional experience in travel agency operations, and experience as a Tourism and Hospitality Management educator, I believe that students learn best when theories are connected to actual industry practices and everyday experiences. I aim to create lessons that are not only easy to understand but also useful beyond the classroom, helping students see how what they learn can be applied in real situations.
My Teaching Method and Techniques
I use a student-centered and interactive approach to teaching. Rather than simply delivering information, I encourage students to participate in discussions, ask questions, analyze situations, and connect concepts with real-life experiences. I combine theoretical knowledge with practical examples from the tourism and hospitality industry, making complex topics easier to understand through simplified explanations, case studies, guided discussions, reflective questions, and scenario-based activities.
I also use visual materials and organized learning resources whenever appropriate, especially when explaining concepts that may initially seem complicated. For students working on research, academic writing, or presentations, I provide step-by-step guidance while encouraging them to develop their own understanding and ideas. I adjust my teaching style according to each learner's pace and level of understanding because my goal is not simply to help students memorize information, but to help them understand concepts deeply and confidently apply what they have learned.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already knows about the topic and what they need or want to learn. From there, I introduce the lesson by connecting it to a familiar situation, current issue, or real-world example. This helps establish relevance and gives students a clearer understanding of why the topic matters before moving into the more detailed discussion.
I then explain the main concepts by breaking complex ideas into smaller and more understandable parts. Whenever possible, I connect theories to actual situations in tourism, hospitality, business, and related fields. The lesson is usually followed by an interactive discussion, question-and-answer session, case study, or problem-solving activity where students can actively apply what they have learned. I end the session with a review and reflection to reinforce the key points and identify areas that may need further clarification.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What sets me apart is my ability to combine the perspectives of an educator and an industry practitioner. My experience allows me to explain not only what students need to know academically, but also why these concepts matter in actual professional settings. Having experience in both education and travel agency operations enables me to bring practical industry perspectives into lessons and discussions.
I also value creating a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand that every learner has a different pace and learning style, so I focus on being approachable, patient, and adaptable. As someone actively involved in education, research, and the Tourism and Hospitality field, I aim to guide students beyond classroom concepts by helping them develop critical thinking, communication skills, academic confidence, and practical industry awareness.
Who My Lessons Are For
My lessons are particularly suited for senior high school students preparing for Tourism, Hospitality, Business, and related degree programs, as well as college and university students taking Tourism, Hospitality Management, and other related courses. I can assist students who need support in understanding tourism and hospitality concepts, destination studies, travel and tourism operations, and other industry-related subjects.
I can also provide guidance to students working on research, academic writing, presentations, and other academic requirements. My lessons can be adapted for beginners as well as more advanced learners. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for an examination, improving an academic output, or developing a deeper understanding of the Tourism and Hospitality industry, my approach focuses on making learning clear, relevant, and applicable.
