I teach chess with a focus on building strong strategic understanding, tactical sharpness, and analytical thinking. Openings are introduced through principles and ideas, helping learners develop a flexible repertoire that can adapt to different opponents. Tactical skills are reinforced through repeated exposure to common patterns such as forks, pins, skewers, discovered attacks, and double threats, which gradually become instinctive. Middle-game instruction emphasizes planning, piece coordination, and exploiting weaknesses, while also teaching students how to anticipate potential threats from the opponent. Endgames are taught gradually, focusing on core concepts such as opposition, king activity, pawn promotion, and basic checkmate patterns. I break down complex positions into smaller, manageable pieces to make understanding easier and more intuitive. Reviewing students’ own games is a central part of my methodology, allowing mistakes to be transformed into valuable learning experiences. Lessons are interactive, combining puzzles, real-game analysis, and hands-on exercises that strengthen both skill and confidence.
