About Colette
Hey there! I'm Colette, and music has been my heartbeat for as long as I can remember. I actually majored in vocal performance in college (fun fact!), but my musical journey has taken me in so many directions since then. I've been teaching private lessons since 1995, and I spent 8 wonderful years teaching music to K-12 students in the public school. When I'm not teaching, I'm creating - I've been signed to a record label where I write and record my own piano music. Plus, I've spent over 30 years as a worship leader, which has given me such a rich perspective on how music connects us.

The best thing about one-on-one lessons? I get to tailor everything specifically to YOU and your goals! There's no one-size-fits-all approach here. You'll definitely learn proper technique, but we'll practice it while learning the songs and styles that actually excite you.
Want to learn how to read music? I got you! Dreaming of being able to sing while playing your own accompaniment? Let's do it! Have a secret desire to write your own songs? All right! Whatever your musical aspirations are, we'll build a path to get you there.
# What You Can Expect
Each lesson typically includes:
- Warm-ups and technique practice to build your skills
- Going over the material you've been practicing
- Introduction to new and exciting pieces
- For my younger students, we mix in some fun theory games to keep things engaging
I believe learning music should be enjoyable, not a chore. My approach is friendly and encouraging, but I'll definitely challenge you to grow! Let's make some beautiful music together!
