About Raphael

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Education in 2013, with a focus in Science Geography, at Simonsen College (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) where I worked many teaching posts between 2011-2013. I then taught as a Teacher in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at 3 schools named: Matias School, Nilópolis School and Padre Miguel School. Prior to my Education Degree, I also completed 2 years of a Bachelor's Degree in Business, at Unigranrio University (JR, Brazil) in 2008-2009. In 2015, I decided to immigrate to North America, and once here, I sought another passion of mine: Cinema. I obtained yet another Bachelor's Degree in Science Film Studies in 2018, at Full Sail University (Winter Park, Florida). Due to unexpected financial strains and the need for a higher reliable income during the pandemic, I had to put my teaching career on hold, and I have instead been working as a supervisor at a high-end hotel chain, while private teaching and tutoring on the side. My goal is to transition back to Education full-time.

I’m Raphael Lima, a trilingual Elementary and High School Teacher with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, with experience teaching those with learning disabilities and special needs. I tutor English as a Second Language (ESL) to Children & Adults who speak Portuguese or Spanish, and I tutor in-person or by Zoom. I also tutor Portuguese to complete beginners or the advanced! I tailor my teaching methods to each of my student's individual needs and preferred learning styles. Whether you want to learn to be able to interview & work comfortably in Portuguese or English, or simply to strengthen your abilities to present meaningful conversations in both languages, I devise improvement plans to achieve or exceed my student's desired goals.
