About Sara

I have been teaching foreign language and giving one-on-one lessons in Spanish and French for over 20 years. While I taught at the college level, I had an average of twenty-five students in my classes. While teaching preschool at Montessori, I would have an average of about fifteen students. Despite the age difference from preschool through college, I loved teaching all my students and age groups.
The majority of my students have graduated and continued, either to graduate school or have begun to study and train themselves so as to achieve successful careers and a happy future life. I always encourage my students to do their very best, to always have a positive attitude, and to never be afraid of an academic challenge or any challenge that they might confront in their future careers and life.

About the lesson

My professional teaching career has always involved my love and Passion for foreign languages (French and Spanish), their culture and English which is my native tongue. I have a Master's degree in French (with graduate courses in Spanish). I also took many graduate level courses in French toward my doctorate.
I am a true Francophile; however, I am equally competent in Spanish and Latino culture. I lived in France for a year, and have perfected my accent to the point whereby I am taken fora native speaker, both in French and Spanish.
I have taught all levels of education, from preschool through second year French and Spanish. I am full of enthusiasm when I teach foreign languages, and my students love learning with me because my excitement and love of the subject matter, the manner in which I teach is contagious and makes learning another language lots of fun!
For instance, when I taught at The University of Minnesota (for 12 years), I always would develop a genuine rapport with my students for they knew, from almost the first day of teaching, that I was passionate about the material I was teaching and cared deeply for them. When teaching, I would use all of my linguistic talents to help them master the language they were studying.
Concerning my personality traits, I am sincere, very caring and giving as a teacher , and I am a true extrovert. I believe in giving 200% of myself to my students. I am also an actress at heart, very
creative, and enjoy teaching languages with skits that I have created.

My values are based upon tutoring high school students or college students, and also due to my educational background; that is, I have completed doctoral courses in French and Spanish, am fluent in both Spanish and French, and have achieved the advanced level of all four components concerning learning a foreign language.
