About Robert

I'm a current trainee solicitor in Scotland and a triple Russell Group graduate.

I spent seven years in higher education, studying History and French at the University of Bristol, completing a year abroad at Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, before completing a Graduate Entry LLB at the University of Edinburgh and the Diploma in Professional Legal Practice at the University of Glasgow.

Throughout my studies I've experienced a wide range of teaching styles, subjects and assessment methods. This has given me a good understanding of how different students learn and, importantly, how to approach different types of university assessment.

I now work as a trainee solicitor in Scotland. Before starting my traineeship, I also worked as a Legal Research Assistant at Edinburgh Law School, researching case law and secondary sources for academic publications.

I'm friendly, patient and approachable, and I particularly enjoy taking something that initially seems complicated and breaking it down into something clear and manageable.

Having spent so long as a student myself, I know that sometimes the hardest part isn't learning the material — it's knowing how to approach it. That's something I hope to help students with.

About the lesson

I offer friendly, practical tutoring for students studying Scots law, whether you're looking for help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for exams, improving your essay technique, or simply becoming more confident with your studies.

I can help with:

Scots law subjects and legal concepts
Exam preparation and revision
Essay and problem-question technique
Understanding cases and legislation
Structuring and improving your own written work
Revision and study planning
General LLB support
Application tips and CV/Application help

As I'm currently working as a legal trainee, I can also offer a practical perspective on how the law you study at university translates into day-to-day legal practice.

My approach is relaxed, supportive and tailored to each student. Rather than simply giving you answers, I'll help you understand the underlying principles and develop the skills and confidence to tackle questions independently.

Lessons are available online, so I can work with students anywhere in Scotland or across the UK.

Whether you have an exam coming up, are struggling with a particular area of law, or just want some additional support throughout the semester, feel free to get in touch.
