This job is similar to a teaching assistant, except that his role was supporting instruction rather than grading. The responsibilities of being an SI include attending all lectures, labs, and holding office hours and study sessions each week. His passion for statistics and learning was displayed weekly with his engagement and ability to teach concepts to students, and I was particularly impressed with his balance of supporting students while never doing the work for them. His work habits are superb; he was prompt, reliable, knowledgeable, completed tasks efficiently and with attention to detail. The students rated Christian high in all aspects of his evaluations including availability, knowledge, communication, respect, and using multiple examples to explain a statistical procedure.

Christian has strong written and oral communication skills. His oral communication has been developed through his leadership training and experience working with students while being a residence assistant (RA). In particular, he has extensive experience mitigating conflict and managing crisis with other students and facilitating problem solving in an effective and diplomatic manner. Christian is well known with the students on campus for this kindness and leadership as an RA. His superb written skills are evidenced by the multiple papers he’s written while taking classes with me—he always received the highest or one of the highest grades on assignments.
