About Youyou
I am origionally from Hangzhou (杭州). I had my entire pre-uni education in China; in 2019, I became a proud member of the UWC community :)) And now, I am doing my English degree at The University of Edinburgh.
I am very passionate about language and literature and I am considering to work toward a career in the creative writing industry.
My other personal instrest includes: architecture, arts and music—I am a singer and a really bad guitarist ;), photography, and spend a day doing absolutely nothing (i.e. 躺平 in Chinese).

About the lesson

To learn a language is to learn about a culture—in this case, Chinese culture. My theory: language is but a tool that allows us to look at something else that we are truly interested in. The outcome is never how much vocabulary or how many expressions you can remember, but how much about the Chinese culture, history, and people you have learned through learning the language.
I am not a professional Chinese teacher and I do not intend to teach Chinese like a school teacher. I will design the teaching methods according to your level and area of instrest. Overall, my role is to help you improve your understanding of the language in its cultural context.
My lessons are typically 1-2 hours long, in-person in Edinburgh. On-line lessons is also an option, but I believe in-person interactions are significant in language learning.
I offer lessons for all levels. It doesn't matter if you barely speaks Chinese or speaks fluent Chinese as long as you are passionate about learning.
