About Cassidy

Hello!

My name is Cassidy. I'm 24 years old and come from South Carolina, USA. I am currently pursuing a master's degree in Education and International Development from UCL (London).

My passion for teaching started to develop through simply tutoring my younger siblings growing up. After working in Austria for a year as an au pair, I realized my deep love for teaching English as I watched the child I cared for progress quickly and confidently in his abilities to speak, read, and write in English throughout the year.

I am just as excited to work with secondary aged and adult learners, too! Please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to helping you through your journey to mastering English.

About the lesson

My lessons are prepared with attention to the level of the learner and their personal learning goals. Lessons may range from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the learner's preference.

For reading/grammar: I integrate a wide range of reading materials which vary in difficulty and content. Lessons typically start with a 'cold read' of the text, where the learner does an initial read. We follow with a slower co-read, pinpointing challenges within the text, incorporating catchy tips for greater comprehension and confidence!

Conversation: This really depends on the desires of the learner. For children, the lessons are more structured, with a pre-designed set of conversation topics that we will work on conversing in. For adult learners, the lessons range from focused, topical vocabulary (e.g. for those wanting to learn business English), to a more free-flowing conversation directed by the learner whereby they can get simply practice with a native speaker.

Essay / Dissertation Prep: Lessons involve essay / dissertation planning, structuring, and editing, depending on the learner's specific needs

Qualifications: I have taught children in informal settings for over 10 years. I am a native English speaker (United States), currently pursuing a degree in Education from UCL. My first academic article was published in a book as of this past summer, so I have the most experience in essay / dissertation prep and editing.
