About Lansing
In the spring of 2014, I graduated from my dream school--UCLA. Go Bruins! I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Marine Biology at California State University, Northridge. I conduct my field research on the beautiful island of Moorea, French Polynesia, near the coast of Tahiti. I am involved in the long term ecological research site based on the island and am so grateful to be exploring beautiful coral reefs and the tropical creatures that live on them.
As a graduate student, I have been instructing introductory biology laboratories for the past two years as the instructor of record and have a strong background in biological subjects. Additionally, I am exceedingly confident in my ability to help students prepare for Standardized Tests, in which I have always excelled. On the SATs, I tested in the 95th, 99th, and 98th percentile for Critical Reading, Math, and Writing, respectively. On the GREs, I tested in the 94th, 98th, and 93rd percentile for Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical Writing, respectively. I am excited to share my tips and tricks for staying calm and on time during these nerve-racking moments.
Moreover, I have always had a head for numbers and would love to tutor in subjects such as Algebra I and Geometry. The English language is also a love of mine and I would cherish the opportunity to help hone grammar and mechanics skills, while developing reading and writing fluency. I believe it is important to first make a personal connection with the student. I want to make sure my students feel comfortable sharing their worries with me, so that they never feel embarrassed if they don't know the answer to a question. My first priority is to cater each lesson to the student's specific needs. Each student is unique and may learn best from different teaching methods. My goal is to capitalize on each student's strengths in order to teach as efficiently and effectively as possible.
