About Chidubem

I am an Undergraduate student who recently finished Sixth Form.

As I await my A-Level results, I hope to promote academic confidence, skill improvement, integrity and compassion in my students through our tutoring sessions. Providing a safe space for learning and future excellence.

From Years 7-11 I attended an IB (International Baccalaureate) World school, which established the principles of curiosity, academic endeavour and holistic thinking within my approaches to learning.
I used to struggle with exams, I had strong academic ability in classwork, homework and verbal lesson feedback, but when it came to exam conditions, my work was seemingly unrecognisable.
This all shifted as I approached my GCSE examinations in 2024. The fear of exams was ushered out by new confidence. This is the confidence I hope to establish in my students.
Instead of rereading notes, I intentionally deepened my understanding of the texts and concepts through audio-visual methods. Doing past paper questions and practice essays outside of set classwork became an integral part of my routine; this allowed me to combat running out of time under exam conditions, making writing second nature helps reduce exam pressure. Having a teacher to mark my finished practice, helped me improve as I used their constructive criticisms to progress. I used flashcards to cement sophisticated vocabulary and literary techniques into my writing.
By the end of my GCSE season, I achieved 10 GCSEs at grades 9-6, and was awarded an Academic Scholarship into my new Sixth Form.

Since Year 7 through to Year 13 I attended boarding school. Living with my classmates during term time, made communal revision a regular occurrence, alongside our afterschool extracurriculars and weekend activities. This cultivated an interest in helping my peers and younger students with homework and understanding tricky concepts from lessons.
I use my initiative and often extend my knowledge and skills to aid others' progress and work out their issues alongside them or persuade them constructively.
Whilst studying for my A-Levels (Chemistry, Geography and English Literature), I managed to balance sports, leadership roles (As a Prefect, Head of House and Colour Sergeant) with academic demands and social life.
I am an avid football fan, who enjoys listening to many genres of music from different decades. I love learning languages and understanding other cultures as well as my own heritage. I believe in learning about the wider world around me to become more informed and empathise with others.
"An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge." - Proverbs 18:15

Tutoring tailored to the student's academic needs, supporting their learning in school, whilst ensuring they gain confidence in their progress.
I believe that every student has potential; through structured sessions, curated around the student's goals and any gaps I have noticed in their knowledge, I strive to unlock the student's academic capabilities.

I teach using:
-Brainstorming techniques.
-Visual techniques (such as animations and clipart to bring texts and concepts to life).
- Concept walkthroughs.
-Text breakdowns (I suggest ideas, and encourage the student as they devise their own interpretations).
-Flashcards for keywords and processes.
-Flashcards for literary techniques and vocabulary expansion.
-Supervised practice essays which I will mark.
-The student is encouraged to produce piece(s) of writing outside of the session - I will mark their work.

I believe that progress is gradual- I don't expect the student to be perfect first time, but I do believe in setting appropriate challenges for the student- never throwing them into the deep end without my support.
