About Lailah
I am an undergraduate student at the University of Manchester, originally from London, who is currently studying criminology. I love tutoring because I've expressed a passion for teaching as early as primary school, and have been assured for years by both former tutees, and fellow classmates, that I have a knack for elucidating complicated information in an alternative, simpler manner, as well as possessing immense patience and creativity when it comes to explaining information to others. I am a firm believer that tutoring/teaching allows the tutor to expand their worldview just as much as the tutee, as well as keeping our minds sharp - it is for this reason that I managed to balance tuition and my A Levels so well, ultimately achieving A*A*A* in my final exams.

My teaching methodology operates similarly to that of a school classroom environment, but with more of a close focus on issues that may be troubling the tutee or areas in which their potential may be advanced. I prioritise working alongside the tutee to help them better overcome their difficulties and help them improve their understanding in the subject area. In the grammar school I attended prior to university, I acted as a mentor to lower students for two years which included tuition in core subjects including English Lit and Lang. The typical length of one session would be 1 hour or 1.5 hours, and is suitable for GCSE and A Level students studying English Language (for which I achieved a 9 at GCSE level) or English Literature (for which I achieved a 9 at GCSE level and an A* at A Level).
