About Mehwish
Hello everyone, my name is Mehwish and I am an undergraduate student finishing my second year in English Literature. Since I was young, I always had a passion for English and reading, so when I took my A levels, I was immensely happy to study it further. Initially, I had not thought of what I would do with an English Literature degree as there were many options, but eventually, the desire to become a teacher grew. From my perspective, being a teacher is so fulfilling and rewarding knowing that I can teach a subject I am passionate about whilst also helping young students achieve their goals. I always had great respect for my teachers because without them I would not be at the place I am today, so knowing I can change or even impact someone else's life would be a great blessing.

My approach to tutoring would be student-centred, and I will focus on each individual's needs. I believe one of the most effective ways to learn is when something complex is broken down into smaller digestible parts to avoid overcomplications. I encourage active recall and will use question and answers to build up strong understanding and knowledge in that particular topic area. A typical lesson would last 1 hour, first starting with assessing the student's current understanding and then introducing new concepts and building on knowledge that way. The lesson would include recaps from the previous lesson and the main task would be reinforced learning through engaging activities. Whilst I don't have any formal tutoring experience, I have helped peers, younger siblings and cousins with their studies, explaining concepts that they found difficult in a way that they could understand. I am open to tutoring primary school children and potentially early GCSE students who are getting to grips with the new content and syllabus.
