Despite being young, I feel I can bring a positive and enthusiastic approach to tutoring. I understand the feeling of struggling in a subject and not knowing how to improve, and I would love to help students to understand and enjoy subjects as previous tutors have helped me! I worked in primary school during my gap year, and had frequent classroom experience, particularly with ages 2 to 10. I also worked at a holiday camp for children aged up to 11. Both of these gave me experience teaching children, particularly assisting children in a one-on-one environment if they didn’t understand something. I feel being close in age to pupils gives me an advantage in that I have recently completed the qualifications they are aiming for so have a good knowledge of the curriculum and what the exam boards are looking for. It also helps me connect to the pupils and means I understand the need to keep the lessons short and fun! I would normally tutor lessons in 40 minute sessions, keeping them interactive and tailored to each pupil. I would normally tutor ages 11 (with early entrance), age 13 (with common entrance) or age 16 (at GCSE) but could accommodate up to A Level or any ages in between.
