About Kirsty

Hi, my name is Kirsty! I achieved grades 8s and 9s across my GCSEs, followed by A*, A*, A and B at A level. I have chosen to become a tutor because I want to pass on the revision techniques, study methods and exam strategies that worked for me. My aim is not only to help students achieve their dream grades, but also to support them in navigating what can often be a stressful and overwhelming exam period.

I am currently 19 and studying Politics and International Relations at the University of Manchester. I am passionate about travelling and tourism and enjoy learning about different cultures, countries and how they operate. I am also beginning my journey of learning Mandarin at university, which has given me an appreciation for the challenges and rewards of learning something new.

Although I am at the beginning of my formal tutoring career, I believe my recent experience of sitting GCSEs and A levels is one of my greatest strengths. Having been through the same exams and revision process relatively recently, I can provide relatable, up-to-date advice and understand the pressures students may experience. I am patient, approachable and a strong communicator, and I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I will tailor lessons to each student’s may experience. I am patient, approachable and a strong communicator, and I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions and making mistakes. I will tailor lessons to each student’s individual needs, whether they need help understanding a difficult topic, improving their exam technique, building confidence or simply finding revision methods that work for them. My goal is to make lessons productive, encouraging and enjoyable while helping students make genuine progress.

My lessons are designed to be structured, engaging and tailored to each student’s individual needs. Sessions will typically last between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours, with each lesson planned in advance around the topic or areas the student would like to focus on.

I aim to make each topic clear and manageable by breaking down the specification, explaining key concepts, providing relevant examples and teaching effective essay structures and exam techniques. Students will also receive my own notes, useful readings and revision materials. I am happy to mark past papers and practice essays outside of lesson time, providing constructive feedback to help students improve.

My lessons are aimed at A-level Politics students studying the AQA or Edexcel specifications. As I have recently completed my own A levels and achieved an A* in Politics, the content, specifications and exam techniques are still fresh in my mind. I can therefore offer relatable advice based on my own experience, including the revision methods and self-made resources that helped me achieve my grade.

As I am at the beginning of my tutoring career, I offer lessons at an affordable rate compared with more experienced professional tutors. However, I am committed to providing well-prepared, high-quality and enjoyable lessons, drawing on my recent experience of going through the A-level process myself.
