About Andrea

I am an educator, researcher, and global thinker committed to fostering academic growth and cross-cultural learning. Beyond teaching, I have worked at the United Nations, contributing to projects in digital governance and global policy. This role has deepened my understanding of international education systems and the critical role that digital transformation plays in expanding access to learning. Additionally, I founded Mentes Globales, an initiative dedicated to supporting Latin American students by providing resources and guidance on education and career opportunities abroad. Through this work, I have helped students navigate the complexities of studying internationally, from language acquisition to application strategies.

About the lesson

I hold a Master’s degree from Columbia University, where I developed strong analytical, communication, and teaching skills that allow me to effectively support students in their academic growth. My passion for education extends beyond the classroom—I have conducted research under Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz, analyzing global economic trends and policy frameworks. This background enhances my ability to teach critical thinking, structured argumentation, and academic writing at an advanced level. Currently, I teach at PS 134 in New York City, leading an afterschool program for a class of 15 fifth graders. I design engaging, structured lessons that not only enhance language proficiency but also build students’ confidence in their abilities. In addition, I have several years of tutoring experience working with students ages 8-15 in subjects such as English, Social Studies, Literature, and Global History, tailoring my instruction to fit each student’s unique learning style. I specialize in language learning and college preparation, helping students refine their essay-writing skills, prepare for standardized tests like the TOEFL and SAT Verbal section, and develop strong reading comprehension. My approach is interactive and student-centered, making learning both accessible and engaging. I believe that a supportive, structured environment is key to student success, and I am committed to helping learners achieve their academic goals with confidence.
